Description

Personal Tax Manager

As the Manager of our Personal Tax department, you’ll be responsible for preparing and filing personal tax returns, offering expert advice on tax-saving strategies, and ensuring compliance with ever-changing UK tax regulations. You’ll manage a portfolio of both domestic and international clients, with opportunities to work on exciting advisory projects. Plus, you’ll be the go-to mentor for a junior team member, guiding them as they grow within the firm.
You'll report directly to the partners, providing you with the chance to work closely with senior leadership while running the department. While this is a senior role with less focus on internal progression, the portfolio of advisory work and international clients will keep you challenged and engaged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file personal income tax returns for a diverse client base.
  • Review financial records such as income statements, expense documents, and previous tax returns to determine the correct tax filing.
  • Advise clients on tax planning and tax-saving strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and clarify complex tax issues.
  • Represent clients in dealings with tax authorities, including audits and inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise tax positions and mitigate tax liabilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial data and client information.
  • Assist clients with tax-related questions and concerns throughout the year, not just during tax season.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to provide comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Manage and mentor a junior team member within the Personal Tax department.

Qualification and Skills

  • ATT/CTA qualified or QBE.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a UK accountancy practice in personal tax advisory and preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax laws and international tax considerations.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks.
