Job Summary:
My client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join their firm. The Tax Preparer will be responsible for preparing and filing accurate individual and business tax returns while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. The ideal candidate is skilled in tax preparation, highly organized, and able to manage a variety of client tax needs in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and corporations.
- Review financial records, income statements, and documentation provided by clients to ensure accurate tax filings.
- Analyze client data to ensure compliance with tax regulations and identify potential deductions or credits.
- Stay updated on current federal, state, and local tax codes and changes in tax law.
- Provide tax planning assistance to help clients minimize their tax liabilities.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and clarify tax-related questions.
- Assist with tax audits, notices, and other correspondence from the IRS or state tax authorities.
- Maintain detailed and accurate client records and tax filings.
- Collaborate with the CPA team to provide comprehensive tax and financial advice.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in tax preparation (minimum of [X] years required).
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., ProSeries, Lacerte, UltraTax) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines, especially during tax season.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred).
- Registered Tax Return Preparer (RTRP) designation or willingness to become certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in preparing tax returns for small businesses and corporations.
- Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is a plus.
