Part time Payroll Assistant

We are currently seeking a Payroll Assistant to join a well established accountancy practice based in Colchester. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a growing business and take on a key role in the payroll department. If you have payroll experience in either an accountancy practice or bureau then we would love to hear from you.

  • Support payroll compliance work for clients of the practice
  • Ensuring payrolls and compliance are completed in a timely manner
  • Assisting with Input and management of payroll data including employees and contractors
  • Dealing with SMP, SSP, SPP, coding notices, P45, holidays and pensions
  • Managing starters and leavers
  • Calculation of pay rates/overtime/bonuses/holidays
  • Assisting with CIS schemes and monthly returns
  • Liaising with and dealing with queries from clients
  • Producing journals for the finance department


  • At least 2 years' experience working in payroll in a UK accountancy practice or bureau
  • Experience with Moneysoft & Iris
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with clients
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently to deadlines
